Plux Quba was handed around between \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ethe principles of the early 90s A-Musik scene: Jan St. Werner, \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eC-Schulz, Frank Dommert, Georg Odijk, plus interested fellow \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003etravelers like Jim ORourke, to the intense curiosity of all. To ears \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ethat were already saturated with all things kraut, the dark corners \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eof prog and the frontline of experimental and improvised music, it \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eproved elusive. Not simply in how it sounded and how that sound \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ewas achieved, but in where it was coming fromlike later Rob-\u003cbr\u003eert Ashley at times; certain stretches of melody recalled some \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eof Enos ambient pieces  but mostly, it was a completely alien \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003esoundscape! And who was it? Was the band called Plux Quba? \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe record? The label? These sorts of mysteries are at the heart \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eof records that require close listening and re-listening. As it was \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eabsorbed, it grew to be an influence on the Kˆln soundMouse \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn Mars, Lithops, and Heemanns many and varied projects\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eas well as ORourke, Fennesz and many others. Music and \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003esound of this nature have for many years been made available by \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ebands like Autechre, labels like Mille Plateauxbut for the first \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eten years of its existence, Plux Quba was rarely heard. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eORourke reissued it as the first record on his Moikai label in \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e1998, and it had a good run through around 2005 before the last \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eof the print parts were filled. Its almost a decade since Plux Quba\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ewas available, which is way too long considering that we live in \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ean era where it is NECESSARY to have an LP of this on hand for \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eyour contemporary listening distractions.
