Hello Warhammer hobbyists! It's a huge week for news from the Warhammer Community. Their "Big Summer Preview" event just wrapped up, showing off a ton of upcoming releases across Warhammer 40,000, Age of Sigmar, The Old World, and more.
The headline is a new wave of starter sets for Warhammer 40,000. These look great for newcomers. A new core Starter Set includes Space Marine and Ork Combat Patrols, rules, terrain, and a starter guide. There are also faction-specific "Getting Started with..." boxes for Space Marines and Orks, which come with a Combat Patrol, paints, and a brush. Finally, a smaller Introductory Set offers a taste of the game with 12 new miniatures, including a unique Space Marines Lieutenant and some Ork Boyz with special weapons.
On the preorder front right now, a few notable items are available. The long-awaited Ciaphas Cain (and Jurgen) miniature is up for preorder, complete with free rules for your games. There are also three new battleforce boxes: one for Astra Militarum, one for Necrons, and one for Chaos Space Marines. For Horus Heresy fans, the Hippogriff AFV and Centaur RSV vehicles are also available to preorder.
Looking ahead, the previews showed new plastic Custodian Guard for Horus Heresy, a new Ogor Mawtribes battletome and miniatures for Age of Sigmar, Exodites for Kill Team, and new starter sets for the upcoming new edition of Necromunda.
