Born to Czechoslovakian parents on January 18, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois (and sadly deceased as a result of breast cancer in Encino, California on August 15, 1978), singer Irene Kral was pianist Roy Kral's younger sister. Irene sang with bands on tours led by Woody Herman and Chubby Jackson and worked with Maynard Ferguson, Stan Kenton and Shelly Manne. Recorded for the small Ava label in 1963, Better Than Anything presents her backed only by a swinging rhythm section led by pianist Junior Mance. 180-gram VIRGIN VINYL LIMITED EDITION of 650 COPIES.
