PLEASE NOTE: This is a 2-LP Vinyl Record set - a standard CD edition is available separately on CD Baby. These 180-gram audiophile records were mastered and pressed in the Netherlands using DMM technology (Direct Metal Mastering) for superior sound quality. LIMITED EDITION OF 500 COPIES. Pianist and musicologist Bryan Wright performs and annotates an exciting and unusual program of piano rags, novelties, tangos, and more. From the stately elegance of classic piano rags by Scott Joplin, James Scott, and Joseph Lamb, to thrilling showpieces by Jean Paques and Frank Banta, to impressionistic mood pieces by Bix Beiderbecke and Eastwood Lane, to contemporary classics by composers like David Thomas Roberts, Glenn Jenks, and Martin Spitznagel, 'Breakin' Notes' offers a pleasingly programmed tour of 20th century syncopated piano music. The attractive gatefold cover offers detailed notes for each of the selections. Bryan Wright has been a featured pianist at the JVC Jazz Festival in New York City and other Jazz and Ragtime festivals across the United States, including regular appearances at the Scott Joplin International Ragtime Festival. His first recording, 'Syncopated Musings,' is also available from Rivermont Records and CD Baby.
