He attended Lincoln Memorial University and Monroe Community College before being drafted into the US Army, serving with the Americal Division's 11th Light Infantry during the Vietnam War. The former singer, songwriter, guitarist and MCA recording artist fronts the CCM group, "Tom Treece & Cross Point," and authored current CD single, "The Wide Road."
