OVERVIEW
DELUXE DOUBLE VINYL EDITION!!!
1993 NEW YORK BROADCAST OF OLDIFELD’S TUBULAR BELLS II
Twenty one years after the release of Tubular Bells, the record that put both Mike Oldfield and Virgin Records on their respective maps, Oldfield signed with Warner Brothers, and as his first release for the label, he composed and recorded Tubular Bells II. Debuting at No.1 in the UK charts - his first album to do so since 1974’s Hergest Ridge - the record met with modest critical success; albeit not comparable with the acclaim he received for his 1973 opus. The album was premiered with a live performance on the esplanade at Edinburgh Castle on 4 September 1992 featuring John Gordon Sinclair as Master of Ceremonies. The North American premiere was held at Carnegie Hall in New York City on 1 March 1993, a show broadcast live across the USA. A world tour then followed, after which Oldfield did not perform live again for nearly five years, until the premiere of Tubular Bells III in 1998. This release features the live broadcast of his 1993 Carnegie Hall show in its entirety, featuring as it does the sophomore performance of the complete album.- Format: Vinyl
