Rob Hubbard is widely regarded as one of the most influential composers of the Commodore 64 (C64) era. During the mid-to-late 1980s, he pushed the boundaries of the C64's SID (Sound Interface Device) chip, creating soundtracks that were far ahead of their time. His music blended catchy melodies with technical wizardry, making use of complex arpeggios, layered voices, and rhythmic effects that transformed the limited hardware into a powerful musical instrument. Hubbard composed iconic soundtracks for games such as Monty on the Run, Commando, Sanxion, International Karate, and Delta. His ability to create long-form, dynamic pieces-often inspired by contemporary progressive rock and synth music-set new standards for game audio. "C64 The Greatest SIDs" is a release that celebrates Rob Hubbard's most legendary works on the Commodore 64.
