Come On & Save Me is the third LP by garage blues duo THE Mooks (VIC RUGGIERO / THE SLACKERS, SIMON CHARDIET / SIMON & THE BAR SINISTERS), although they have grown into a trio for this album with the addition of Canadian JORY KINJO. For many years now, VIC RUGGIERO has been an indestructible, full-blooded musician who never misses an opportunity to play and sing in the studio and, above all, on stage. Known to most fans through his band THE SLACKERS and as a part-time keyboardist for RANCID, he has another project with the REGGAE WORKERS OF THE WORLD and has also been playing for several years in the duo THE Mooks with his New York musician colleague SIMON CHARDIET. CHARDIET, the Cuban-Russian-Jewish guitarist who is otherwise active with his own band SIMON & THE BAR SINISTERS, takes over the lead guitar here, while RUGGIERO plays foot drums and the blues harp in addition to his guitar - and both sing. JORY KINJO plays double bass on this album and also sings. What jumps across to the audience at their live shows, full of joie de vivre and very direct with lo-fi charm, is exactly what these experienced performers bring to the record: everything recorded live, no overdubs, but a lot of heart and soul. And from tight garage blues à la ANDER WILLIAMS to melancholic soul ballads, everything fits together perfectly in a minimalist way. A wonderful interdisciplinary cocktail of African-American roots music! "Come On & Save Me" is being released as a limited edition of 500 copies on LP with random vinyl colors and a printed insert, as well as digitally. The beautiful artwork was created in collaboration with three Canadian artists: Steve Kitchen (illustrations) and Ryan Chopik / Shaw Kinjo (photos).
