David Braham (1834-1905) was the musical director for the famous vaudeville team of Harrigan and Hart, writing music for many of their comic songs, including The Mulligan Guards, Paddie Duffy's Cart, and many more. John Franceschina is a noted authority on 19th-century theater. He has edited a number of anthologies for Garland, including Women and the Profession of Theater, 1810-1860 and Sisters of Gore: Seven Gothic Melodramas by British Women, 1790-1843.
