Holm - Holm - Why Don't You Dance [Vinyl]
Barcode: 634457064461A leader in the Danish DIY scene - NPR
Mikkel Holm SilkjÊr, the frontman of Danish indie rock combo Yung, is finally set to release his long-awaited debut solo record as Holm - the first release with this solo project since 2018s Dappled EP. Titled Why Dont You Dance, its a product of three years of writing and nearly six months of recording, its a gleefully varied guitar-pop record that veers between styles, from the fizzing energy of Descending and opener Intelligent Moves to the gorgeously melodic Like a Dog and The Rope, via the stately introspection of tracks like Ks Choice and Back Home. Recorded by Yung bandmate Tobias Guldborg Tarp (who co-produced alongside Neil Robert Young), Why Dont You Dance is the sound of SilkjÊr stepping away from his groups predilection for taut rock and roll and instead embracing a different side of his musical personality, one defined by his sharp ear for a hook, as well as - crucially - his burgeoning ability as an expressive lyricist. The record is out digitally and on black vinyl, green vinyl (indie store exclusive) & pink vinyl (Scandinavia exclusive) via PNKSLM Recordings (ShitKid, Les Big Byrd, Holy etc.).
1. Intelligent Moves 2. Valley of Dreams 3. The Rope 4. K's Choice 5. Intermezzo 6. Like a Dog 7. Descending 8. Back Home 9. Erase & Repeat 10. Why Don't You Dance?
