"If I Were a Lich, Man" is a trilogy of humorously poignant Jewish role-playing games that blend creativity, resistance, and cultural introspection into one innovative package. Each game within this award-winning trilogy offers a unique twist on fighting authoritarianism, using the absurd to highlight the heroic in the stories we often deem villainous. Inspired by the comedic spirits of "What We Do in the Shadows," "Russian Doll," and "Young Frankenstein," these games offer a fresh and deeply engaging way to explore themes of community, survival, and identity.
-
If I Were a Lich, Man: Dive into a tense tragicomedy where you and three other players embody Jewish-coded Lich siblings. Discuss and strategize survival against paladins with deadly intentions. Gameplay incorporates a dreidel to drive decisions, echoing both Dungeons & Dragons tactics and the Passover Seder's storytelling.
-
Same Bat Time, Same Bat Mitzvah: A goofy, high-energy game for 7-13 players that turns a Bat Mitzvah celebration into a night of supernatural surprises. Play as the celebrant or one of the guests when a vampire bat bite transforms the party into an unexpected adventure.
-
Grandma’s Drinking Song: A melodramatic musical comedy where 4 players embody members of a Prohibition-era Jewish family of bootleggers. Create a family drinking song while navigating the highs and lows of running an illicit enterprise.
Designed for play without a dedicated game master, these games are perfect for anyone ready to engage with Jewish cultural traditions through play, regardless of background. The games are designed for teens and up, making them suitable for families, drama groups, friendly game nights, and more. They can be played at home, in classrooms, theaters, or online, providing a versatile and accessible experience for all players.
