Jason Simon, best known for his work as the guitarist and singer for the seminal heavy psych band Dead Meadow, releases his first solo record†(Tee Pee Records). It is a stripped down and intimate record filled with intricate guitar work and poignant well-thought lyrics. There are slight shades†of Bert Jansch, Leonard Cohen, Sandy Bull, and Townes Van Zandt but only shades as it is most certainly its own thing. It is a record to remind the†listener that heavy does not come from loud distortion and huge drums but comes from the depth within the song itself.
