Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam was a New York-based trio composed of Lisa Lisa (Lisa Velez) - lead vocalist, Alex "Spanador" Moseley - guitarist and keyboardist, and Mike Hughes - drummer and percussionist. They were one of the first groups to bring freestyle music into the mainstream, blending R&B, Latin, and electronic influences. The group's success paved the way for later freestyle artists like Exposé and The Cover Girls. The album was produced by the Brooklyn-based production team Full Force, who also played a key role in shaping the group's signature freestyle, R&B, and dance-pop sound. The album features the hit single "I Wonder If I Take You Home," which became a major success in clubs before breaking into the mainstream charts, helping to popularize freestyle music.
