This was recorded on Don Ellis last ever tour of Europe in 1977. It is widely considered to be his finest big band recording. This recording comes from Don's own personal tapes. Later in his life he worked as a film composer, contributing a score to 1971's The French Connection winning a Grammy. He is known as "The Forgotten Genius" .He is best known for his extensive musical experimentation, particularly in the area of time signatures.
