by Joseph Straub (Author)
Matthew & Gunnar Nelson Biography is a definitive, deeply researched portrait of two artists who refused to be defined by a single moment of fame-or by the weight of an extraordinary family legacy. From their birth into one of America's most recognizable entertainment dynasties to the heights of global success with After the Rain, this book traces a journey shaped by talent, loss, reinvention, and unwavering brotherhood.
Author Joseph Straub goes beyond the headlines to reveal the full story: the discipline forged in obscurity, the emotional cost of sudden visibility, the industry battles that tested their integrity, and the deliberate choice to rebuild their careers on their own terms. With rare insight into their creative partnership, their tribute to their father Ricky Nelson, and the reflections behind their candid memoir What Happened to Your Hair?, this biography presents Matthew and Gunnar Nelson not as nostalgia figures, but as enduring artists.
Written with clarity, balance, and respect, this book explores what artistic longevity truly means in a changing industry-and why the Nelson brothers' story still resonates today.
Whether you are a longtime fan, a music historian, or a reader drawn to stories of resilience and creative freedom, this biography offers depth, honesty, and perspective.
