This has been one of our longest-awaited, and most-anticipated items, but we always make sure the provenance checks out—no matter how long it takes.
Unlock a piece of interstellar history with a genuine section of mission data tape from NASA's iconic Pioneer 10 spacecraft. Launched in 1972, Pioneer 10 became the first human-made object to traverse the asteroid belt and deliver close-up images of Jupiter, paving the way for future deep-space exploration.
Pioneer 10 carried the famous Pioneer Plaque, like a message in a bottle, to communicate the spacecraft's origins to any intelligent beings it may encounter.
This relic is part of a rare cache of tapes that famously vanished for decades, only to resurface in 2015 under extraordinary circumstances: tucked away in a private apartment, their legacy nearly lost to time. While most of the recovered collection succumbed to mold and decay, a small number of pristine reels miraculously survived.
We have consulted with many experts about this item, particularly a veteran in data recovery who specializes in digitizing vintage data formats. He was able to conclude that the tape includes 12 files, at least 6 of which are
raw imagery data from the Pioneer IPP (Imaging PhotoPolarimeter). These may include images of other planets or moons, transmitted directly from the spacecraft back to Earth in binary.
Finally, we bring you this precious data tape segment—an artifact that once helped track humanity's leap toward the outer planets. Each piece is carefully preserved, a testament to the resilience of exploration and the thrill of rediscovery.
Whether you’re a collector, a space history enthusiast, or someone captivated by the pioneering spirit of human ingenuity, this artifact invites you to connect with the pulse of past missions and envision the endless frontier that awaits.
