The first few Richard Vain shows were solo jammers, just Jered, an iPad, a keyboard with a looping pedal, a guitar and sometimes a candle. While the seeds of a grungier, darker, dancier sound than his last project Bare Mutants were there, something was missing and Jered was lonely. He'd met a weirdo named Carbomb when he was in the Ponys and crashed at her place in NYC and let her crash at his place when she first moved to Chicago and he asked her if she'd want to play keys. They were great at drinking together, so she said yes and when it came to adding a drummer Carbomb knew that Lugs, the singer/guitar player in her other band Storm Clouds, was missing playing punk drums. Having seen him play drums in damaged hardcore outfit HERDS, she knew he'd match Jered's vibe and Richard Vain was realized. They learned the songs Jered was already creating in his basement and put together a few more as a threesome and recorded Night Jammers at Jamdek Studios with the comforting genius of Cooper Crane putting the tracks to tape. The Ponys recorded their debut Laced with Romance in Detroit with Jim Diamond and he offered to master the thing, old punk buddy from the Chicago band Headache City and current punk buddy from NYC band Surfbort, David R Head Jr created the voodoo fever dream album art. Old Ponys buddy and current FACS buddy Brian Case laid it all out and by all these buddy powers combined, you have Richard Vain's debut LP put out by buddy Bart at Big Neck Records. Pairs well with: wine (white or rose), tequila, IPAs, herb.
