Few fossils scream “Cambrian classic” quite like Olenoides. Scuttling across the seafloor about 505 million years ago, this trilobite was armed with a sturdy exoskeleton, jointed legs, and a set of wicked rear spines that said, “please don’t snack on me.”
Found in the Burgess Shale of British Columbia, Olenoides is one of the best-preserved trilobites ever discovered—some fossils even show its legs and antennae, a rarity for animals that usually fossilize as just their armored shells. At about 5–10 cm long, it wasn’t huge, but it was built tough enough to survive the chaotic Cambrian seas.
This hard enamel pin captures its armored body and defensive spikes in polished metal and enamel—no shale splitting or headlamp required.
Specs:
- Premium metal base with polished hard enamel fill
- Secure clasp so your Olenoides doesn’t “crawl off”
- Size: 34.5 x 29mm
- Zero chance of hiding in your shoe like a real bug
Perfect for trilobite collectors, Cambrian enthusiasts, and anyone who loves creatures that nailed the armored aesthetic half a billion years ago.
