The Pentomino Set is a classic mathematical puzzle that offers 2D and 3D challenges with thousands of solutions. Each set contains 13 pieces. 12 of these pieces are different shapes that are all formed from 5 cubes in different combinations. Because “pento” is a Greek prefix for “five”, that number is a central theme for Pentomino. The playing pieces represent all possible combinations of 5 cubes that are joined together edge to edge. To complete the set, there is 1 square piece made from 4 cubes.

Also included is a deck of 65 challenge cards, and each card displays a different shape with a solution on the back. The object of the game is to copy the shape using all 13 pieces. Players can move up in difficulty level as they progress through the deck and switch from 2D shapes to 3D structures. Unlike many other puzzles, there are hundreds, sometimes thousands of ways to reach the same end goal. The set comes tucked in a handmade, wooden box with a lid for safekeeping and travel.
