More than two decades after releasing their debut album Can't Stop Rockin', San Diego's Chicano roots-rock veterans The Sleepwalkers return with Almas Perdidas, an eight-track record that showcases the evolving sound that has defined their musical journey for over 30 years. Released on Blind Owl Records, Almas Perdidas marks the label's first major 'Rock en Español' feature and introduces one of San Diego's longest-running Chicano rock bands to a wider audience. The Sleepwalkers blend roots rock, psychedelia, rockabilly, cumbia, and Chicano rock, reflecting the group's cultural identity and ever-changing sound. 'If anybody ever comes to our shows, they'll see that one minute we'll be playing a cumbia dance song, and then we'll switch it and do something that's Americana, or rockabilly, or even a country song,' Valenzuela says. Over the course of their career, The Sleepwalkers have shared stages with an impressive range of artists, including Poncho Sanchez, The Beat Farmers, Son Rope Pera, Rosie Flores, Ozomatli, and the Paladins. Featuring standout vocals from lead singer Johnny Valenzuela, and guitar work from Ritchie Orduño, Almas Perdidas honors the band's past while embracing the sounds that have continued to shape their artistic vision. Described by San Diego Troubadour as 'a blender with Los Lobos, Cowpunk à la the Blasters, and a dash of Texas roadhouse blues,' their newest album is a testament to the band's enduring sound while marking a new chapter in their career.
