Amphibalanus amphitrite, commonly known as the purple acorn barnacle, is a small marine crustacean widely distributed in tropical and subtropical coastal waters.

Unlike its cold-water relatives, this species thrives in warmer environments, often found on rocks, ship hulls, piers, and mangrove roots. As filter feeders, purple acorn barnacles use feathery appendages, called cirri, to sweep plankton and detritus from the water into their mouths.

These barnacles are highly adaptable to a wide range of salinities and temperatures. Additionally, they are remarkably prolific; a single barnacle can release up to 10,000 eggs per cycle, often producing multiple broods each year

Enhance your collection with this stunning purple barnacle cluster, measuring between 4 to 6 inches. This unique specimen is perfect for study, display, or even as a creative planter!

Each barnacle cluster showcases intricate textures and colors that make it a standout piece in any setting. You will receive a specimen similar to those shown in the images, allowing for some natural variation in size and shape, ensuring that your piece is truly one-of-a-kind.
