Make beautiful music with the mischievous “Chip ‘n’ Dale” starring in our exclusive Disney Vault puzzle!
Chip and Dale first appeared as two rambunctious chipmunks in the 1943 cartoon short Private Pluto, and debuted with their names in 1947’s Chip an’ Dale. The duo appeared in a total of 24 shorts, typically causing mayhem and frustration for characters like Donald Duck and Pluto. In Two Chips and a Miss, the brothers vie for the attention of the charismatic Clarice, a singer at the Acorn Club. After a musical showdown, the boys tried to plant a kiss on the lovely Clarice, but — oops — missed!
While Chip and Dale may look similar, they are different in both appearance and personality. Chip sports a small black nose and smooth hair, and tends to be the more logical of the two. Dale has a larger, reddish nose and unruly hair and acts a bit dim-witted. Their names are a pun on the name of the 18th-century English cabinet maker and furniture designer, Thomas Chippendale, suggested by Bill "Tex" Henson, a story artist at the studio. All Sales are Final.
