On the 10th anniversary of Record Store Day, Ra Ra Riot celebrated the 10th anniversary of their first release (their self-titled EP) by releasing it for the first time ever on vinyl. On the heels of the success of that Record Store Day exclusive limited numbered 45 RPM 12”, the band is releasing a remastered CD version of their long out of print debut. The band personally did the audio remastering, updated the art and is putting it out themselves which is a fitting tribute to the self- produced work. Originally released on July 10, 2007, Ra Ra Riot is the band’s sole recorded output with their original late drummer, John Pike, who passed away one month prior. Pike co-wrote all lyrics with vocalist, Wes Miles, and also contributed to the music. Songs include the original versions of fan favorites “Dying Is Fine,” “Each Year,” “Can You Tell” and “Ghost Under Rocks.” Reviews from the time say it all: “In less than a year, this band has somehow melded six musical brains together to form one collective force hell-bent on making fans move in time with every pluck, pound, strum, and bow. Their spirited live shows will surely give them the staying power needed to keep drawing fans. "Like Dexy's Midnight Runners playing REM" - NME. "There is a bit of Arcade Fire in them, but they are also indebted to 'London Calling'-era Clash” - Billboard To promote this special release, the band will be playing a show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in their hometown of Brooklyn, NY where they will be performing the EP from start to finish for the only time ever. This show will surely remind their fans of the importance of the recording that set the band’s trajectory at their start.
