Small Talk marks the fourth and most emotionally resonant album from the acclaimed Chicago duo Whitney. After a decade of collaboration in both Smith Westerns and Whitney, longtime bandmates Julien Ehrlich and Max Kakacek entered the studio in the summer of 2024 without a producer—relying instead on trusted friends who dropped in to contribute, creating an intimate and authentic recording experience.

The album features a collection of 11 incandescent songs that perfectly capture everything Whitney does best: tender melodies, wistful lyricism, and a natural warmth that has been elevated to new heights. Small Talk balances classic Whitney charm with a spirit of creative evolution, resulting in their most affecting and fully realized release to date.
