Rocshire Records: sounds of the early-80s underground and indie cult classics for fans of West Coast punk, power pop, new wave and synth music presents 'So Good'. Mike and Brenda Sutton spent years behind the scenes as songwriters and producers, shaping the sound of R&B for some of the decade's biggest voices. By the time they stepped into the spotlight with this album, they brought that experience and instinct fully into their own music. By 1984, they had already navigated a decade of shifts in soul and dance music, and this album reflects that journey. Acting as both producers and performers, the record moves effortlessly between dancefloor energy and smooth, soul-inflected expression, while the songwriting keeps their voices front and center. It's a well-orchestrated approach that can only come from experience, and throughout the record, Mike and Brenda's chemistry is palpable. Grounded in years of marriage, collaboration, and mutual artistry, the result is an album of confident, expressive music that feels uniquely their own. Though it didn't break wide commercially at the time, this album stands as a personal, coherent statement from two seasoned creators. It captures a moment when R&B and dance rhythms were evolving, and when a duo with deep roots and sharp instincts could shape their sound entirely on their own terms.
