Description: One of the first thrash metal bands to emerge from the US East Coast, Anthrax was founded in 1981 in New York City. The band became one of the leaders of speed metal, combining the vigor of hardcore punk with the elevated guitar sound and vocals of heavy metal, they helped create a new subgenre of heavy metal.
