The veteran Jamaican-born vocalist/ songwriter, occasional actor Jimmy Cliff, owner of one of the sweetest voices in popular music, has enjoyed a long, meandering and absorbing career that has frequently embraced vertiginous heights as well as times of struggle and hardship. We celebrate his remarkable talent here with this set of three albums originally released on the Columbia/ CBS record label - namely Special (1982), The Power and the Glory (1983) and Cliff Hanger (1985). This triumvirate of titles reflect the breadth and quality of Cliff's music, which can span the sunniest of positive vibes, whilst also being unafraid to reveal a vulnerable and all-too-human side to his muse that is compelling. Cliff was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.
