The Tamiya Grasshopper II 2017 2WD Off-Road Buggy Kit is a re-release of one of Tamiya's iconic radio control car kits from the late 1980's. It was an enhanced follow up release to the original Grasshopper kit. Its streamlined construction process makes this kit perfect for less experienced users and R/C veterans alike, while separately sold option parts can be used to enhance the model.

Scale Body

The Grasshopper II comes with a body molded in white polystyrene and will require Tamiya TS Spray Paint (sold separately). Secured by three body clips, the body features a wing molded into the core of the body to apply excellent downforce and rear traction. The included driver figure and high quality decals give this buggy the perfect nostalgic look and feel.

Performance Chassis

A rugged ABS resin chassis is more than up to the stresses of off-road driving, and features lightweight durable plastic suspension arms, gearboxes and so on - the result is a lightweight and durable unit. Front swing axle and rear rolling rigid suspension combine for a responsive drive, while a fully enclosed gearbox is integrated with the rear axle and has a built-in differential gear to aid smooth cornering. One-piece wheels are paired with front grooved and rear spike tires for solid performance.

Included Electronics

This chassis Kit includes both a torque tuned brushed motor and Hobbywing 1060 ESC. These components combine to deliver a performance enhanced on-road racing experience. The compact ESC boasts extreme performance, complemented by a built-in capacitor module for efficient power delivery. With exceptional current endurance capability, easily configurable parameters using ESC jumpers, and automatic throttle range calibration for user-friendly setup, the Quicrun 1060 stands out. Its impressive built-in BEC output capacity, built-in capacitor, and IP-67 waterproof rating further elevate its reliability, making it a top-tier choice for enthusiasts seeking optimal performance in their RC adventures. The included 380 torque tuned motor offers higher top speeds and increased acceleration.

Connector Information

When upgrading to a high current LiPo battery, it is recommended to also upgrade your battery connector. We recommend using an XT60 or T-Style connector for this application. Please check out the video below to learn how to solder on a T-Style connector.
