"If my life is a movie, This Movie Sucks."
Minnesota sibling duo Durry return with This Movie Sucks, an aggressive, heartfelt follow-up to their viral debut Suburban Legend. Equal parts a punch to the gut and a warm hug, the album offers a tongue-in-cheek yet brutally honest look at real life—tackling everything from toxic internet culture and the state of U.S. economics to grief and loss, all delivered with a knowing wink.
Musically, This Movie Sucks pushes Durry’s sound further than ever before. The record veers from punk-driven anthems like “Bully” and “Start a Band” to the folksy, emotional textures of “The Long Goodbye” and “Slug Bug.” It’s a wild, genre-hopping ride tailor-made for anyone nostalgic for the angsty energy of 2000s rock—but with the kind of lyrical maturity that only comes from lived experience.
“Honestly, the process of making this record has been a dream come true for us,” says Austin Durry. “We’ve always recorded in basements and home studios, squeezing it in whenever time and money allowed. But for this one, we finally got into a big studio with a full body of work—and just banged out an entire album. It felt amazing, and I think that really comes through in the songs.”
