Pirates Press Records is proud to give Seattle rockers The Drowns' debut album View From the Bottom the proper reissue it deeply deserves. With a debut album, a band generally hopes that one or two songs will stand the test of time, stick around long term, and give fans something to latch on to, relate to, and most importantly, want more of. View from the Bottom surpasses that marker handily. The Drowns came straight out of the gate guns blazing, from the opening track "Eternal Debate" through fan-favorite live set staples "Faithfully Faithless" and the title track, and ultimately, the bookend, emotional climax, and arguably one of the most important, poignant, and personal songs on the album, "Darkness." This new version features all new art, with a minimalist, black on black spot-matte jacket with a metallic red foil stamped pitchfork paying homage to the original album cover photo. The entire album is remastered, and following the original closer "Darkness" is an encore of sorts in the form of a bonus track: a cover of "Satyagraha," the opening track to hardcore punk legends 7Seconds' monumental 1989 LP Soulforce Revolution. Articulate, vital, and aspiring for a better world, it is a fitting new coda that helps ensure that this is indeed the definitive version of the album fans already know and love.
