The soundtrack to HBO's special that focused on art photographer Timothy Greenfield-Sanders' book XXX: 30 Porn Star Portraits beats any "sexy house" or "horny electro" compilations before it with good taste and serious licensing muscle. You wouldn't know it from the perfect flow, but the collection jumps between the indie underground (Ladytron, Peaches) and mainstream Euro-club (Tiga, Mylo) without a hitch and collects the best slick and sexy tracks available. Nothing is dissonant or difficult, and -- past Peaches and the Velvet Underground -- nothing is what you'd call revolutionary. Futon offer a detached take on "I Wanna Be Your Dog" while Tiga Euro-ups Nelly's "Hot in Herre." Fun stuff, and closing with the Velvets just proves how smart these compilers are (although wouldn't "Venus in Furs" be the obvious choice?). An excellent bedroom accessory for the laptop generation.
